KEY MESSAGES

1) Mostly dry conditions are expected to continue through the middle of next week with temperatures running near to above normal.

DISCUSSION

KEY MESSAGE 1

High pressure over the area will keep conditions dry through at least the middle of next week. Northwesterly flow will lead to seasonably cool conditions this afternoon with highs in the 50s along with less wind in comparison to yesterday. As trick- or-treating time starts to roll around early this evening, temperatures will likely range from the upper 40s to the mid 50s by late afternoon, and fall into the 40s areawide just after sunset. With light winds and high pressure overhead it will be chillier overnight with lows in the mid 20s to the mid 30s.

As the center high starts to shift slowly east tomorrow, the flow will gradually turn more westerly aloft and temperatures moderate a bit with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. A warming trend continues through mid-week, with upper- level ridging building in aloft and the flow becoming more south-southwesterly. Afternoon highs early next week will be running well above average in the 60s with some valley locations even making a run at 70 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday. The next opportunity for more meaningful rainfall looks to be later Wednesday night into Thursday as a frontal boundary approaches.

AVIATION

18Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

Mainly VFR conditions are expected through the next 24 hours (at least through 18Z Sunday). The one area of uncertainty is at KELM late tonight/early Sunday morning. Conditions are slightly more favorable for fog compared to last night, but definitely not a certainty with dry air in place and potential higher clouds moving back in. If there would be fog, it would likely be in the 09Z-13Z timeframe, but due to the high degree of uncertainty, it was left out of the 18Z TAFs.

Outlook

Sunday afternoon through Wednesday night...Mainly VFR, potential for morning fog at KELM.

Thursday...Scattered showers may bring occasional restrictions.
