KEY MESSAGES
- Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms by late Monday afternoon, increasing Monday evening and Monday night. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main concerns.
- Gusty north to northwest winds on Tuesday.
SHORT TERM
This evening through Sunday · Issued at 1240 PM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Cloud cover and a few lingering showers are possible through this evening, as a weak shortwave disturbance continues to make its way across the area. Temperatures are expected to stabilize in the mid 50s to lower 60s overnight tonight under the "blanket" of continued cloud cover. Given the ample low level moisture and generally light winds, there could be a few areas that see low clouds/fog develop tonight and potentially reduce visibilities. High temperatures on Sunday are expected to warm into the mid 70s to lower 80s.
LONG TERM
Sunday night through next Friday · Issued at 1240 PM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026
A upper-level low is expected to track across the Texas Panhandle and lift to the Kansas/Oklahoma border, with an associated surface cold front tracking southeast across our area Monday night. There are some rain chances in the forecast, but the remain primarily dependent on the track of the aforementioned system and having enough lift to produce showers. At this time, appears that there will be enough lift, moisture and instability for a band of showers and thunderstorms to develop along the cold front, as it pushes across our area. The higher rain chances and better coverage of convection look to be in our eastern and southeastern counties where more moisture should be available. At this time, SPC has our area outlooked in a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms for Monday.
Cooler air will follow this cold front on Monday, and will be accompanied by breezy north to northwest winds on Tuesday. Monday will see high temperatures in the upper 70s to mid 80s, but highs on Tuesday behind the front will struggle to surpass the lower to mid 70s. Dry weather to follow for Wednesday though Friday, as surface high pressure settles into Texas.
